We've put together a few answers to commonly asked questions. These apply to both users of our site and also online merchants wishing to list items here.
FAQ's for Users
1. Is there a way to order the results by those with the most amount of a particular colour?
Yes! Simply use the "Sort results by" drop down box and select "Selected Colours Most to Least". This will order by all your selected colours combined, so if you select red and yellow, the system will look for art with the most red or yellow or a combination and show these first.
2. Why is the price / delivery charge / some other information incorrect?
We rely completely on the information provided to us by merchants in this regard. Although we update our listings every day, some merchants are worse than others at providing the correct information. In certain cases we remove merchants completely if the majority of the data they provide us is incorrect.
3. How do the favourites work?
The favourites section uses a small cookie to save your selected art. You do not need to create an account with us or register to use this service. Note that your favourites will only appear on the computer you save them on. If a piece of art is no longer listed on our website, it will automatically be removed from your favourites next time they are shown to you.
4. I've found a listing that isn't art - what should I do?
We obviously can't manually check every image on our site so we rely on merchants and networks to correctly categorise art for us. Sometimes incorrect items do slip through. If you find a listing that isn't art (and we mean really isn't art, not items that just aren't to your taste), for example, a set of art pencils, click the "Report Art" link at the bottom of the page. Then drag the art into the space indicated and it will be added to our queue for manual review and possible permanent deletion.
5. I find some of the art offensive - can you remove it?
We don't censor art on our site in any way, so some users may find some works offensive and some are not suitable to be viewed by children. We apologise if this causes you offence, but our mission is to list as much art as possible though our service.
FAQ's for Merchants
1. How can my website sell art via ArtBuyUK.co.uk?
We work on an affiliate basis with major networks such as Affiliate Window and Webgains. These are our two preferred networks, however we are able to work with others and even in house affiliate systems if required. There is no correlation in terms of our result ordering towards higher commission rates; the results we return to users are completely unbiased in this regard.
2. Do you have any tips for ensuring the best results?
Yes! Some merchants make it very difficult for us to promote their art and hence we're not able to list their items. By following a few simple tips you can ensure the best results for both us and yourselves.
Keep your datafeed up to date. It sounds obvious but you would not believe the number of merchants who don't update their datafeed for months on end; it's a very technically simple job so there is no excuse not to do this. If your prices aren't correct, or you're linking to out of stock items, we can't list you.
Check your art is correctly categorised as art in your datafeed by your affiliate network.
Provide decent sized images in the feed (ideally, at least 500px on the longest side). We cache all the images on our server anyway, so we only need to pull the image once.
Don't put a huge amount of white space (ideally, you should put none) around the image of your art.
If you follow those simple tips, it's a very safe bet your affiliate scheme will run a lot more smoothly than if you didn't!
